Conflict is stressful and can be both financially and mentally exhausting. People or partners you thought you knew now seem like strangers. Friendships are fractured and work relationships become tense and uneasy. People in serious conflict dehumanize one another and in the process may find themselves isolated and angrier then ever. Putting all these negatives aside conflict may also open pathways to opportunity, relief and change. “In the transformative mediation process, parties can recapture their sense of competence and connection, reverse the negative conflict cycle, reestablish a constructive or at least neutral interaction, and move forward on a positive footing, with a mediator’s help.” Robert A.
